Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile listing can be an enormous asset for your company in terms of generating website visits and phone calls. It’s the easiest way for your local business to get to the top of the Google search results for many different keywords. Best of all, it’s free!

Get More Clicks & Phone Calls

The Google Business Profile is a great free tool that you should be taking full advantage of. One reason I say that is that more and more people are using “near me” searches, particularly when they are searching for local businesses on their phone. In fact, “near me” searches have increased more that 200% in the last couple of years. The Google Business Profile 3 pack usually shows up at the top of the search results for such searches. If you are not in the top three in the Google Business Profile listings, then you are missing out on a ton of traffic from potential customers. The businesses in the top 3 pack get 69% of the clicks among all of the first page results.

Google Search Results Have Changed

Another reason I say that is that the first page of the Google search results have changed enormously over the years. For example, if you google, “best roofers in Los Angeles,” not even one roofing company’s website shows up on the first page of the search results. Under the Google Business Profile 3 pack, you see Yelp, Angie’s List, and then other business directory and review sites. The most highly ranked roofer’s website is no. 3 on page two of the search results. In other words, there are no roofing company websites that appear on the first page of Google for that particular search term.

That’s par for the course for most service providers these days–from lawn care to lawyers. Which means, even if your website is search engine optimized, people might have a hard time finding it in the so-called “organic” search results. And the above applies to many different business types. There are now over 4,000 different business categories to choose from for Google Business Profiles, starting with “Abbey and ending in “Zoo,” when looked at in alphabetical order.

Google reviews are another advantage of having a prominent GBP. Nowadays, consumers like to read reviews before making a buying decision. Google reviews are the most popular and most numerous, outstripping both Yelp and Facebook. And they get read far more often than reviews on various business directories like Angie’s List or Yellow Pages.
